Delays in early expressive vocabulary can reflect a specific delay language acquisition or more general impairments social communication. The neural mechanisms underlying the (dis)ability to establish first lexical–semantic representations remain relatively unknown. Here, we investigate electrophysiological underpinnings of these during critical phase lexical two groups 19-month-old toddlers at risk for neurodevelopmental disorders, i.e., children characterized by low (late talkers, N = 18) and with signs Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD, as compared typically developing (N 28), aim identify similarities specificities lexical-semantic processing between groups.
